"Growing up in Robertson in the days of Uncle Pon van Zyl and Andrew Kok, it was only natural to cultivate a lively interest in viticulture and wine." So says Jeff Joubert, when discussing his love for the vine and its products.
Jeff obtained his MSc Agric from the University of Stellenbosch and focussed his attention on the development of young vines, "which is where it all starts," he explains. He also remembers holidays on a farm in Vinkrivier, where he learnt to prune with a vineyard knife.
Nowadays he enjoys grafting experiments. And he sings in two local choirs!
Jeff sees a definite role for himself in the future of the industry. "My biggest challenge is to help establish and develop a wine culture in our area. Quality, no matter which area, will always have a market and a future!"
